The National Christian Council (NCC) urged the Indian Government to abolish the WAQF, 2025 law and express concerns that legislation violates the constitutional rights of religious communities, in particular the Muslim community.
In his statement issued by Sam Paul Kolacalluri, founder of President NCC and a former state member of the 15-point Prime Minister for minorities, the Council stated that the law violates Articles 25 and 26 Indian Institutes. These articles deal with communities to manage their own religious affairs and qualities.
The NCC protested against parts that record non -Muslim representation in state plates. According to the Council, these changes interfere with the law of the Muslim community independently manage their religious foundations. A statement approved by the NCC authorities, including the National President Rev. Dr. Stephen Chittibabuho and National Vice Presidents Ruth Kiranmayi and Rev. Brighty Beulah, caused the contrast that similar interventions were not carried out in the leadership of Hindu, Sikh and Christian religious foundations.
The Council also claimed that the new legislation is contrary to the Act on Religious Foundations of 1863 and the various state laws that governed by the temple councils, all of which ensure that religious institutions are managed by adherents of the belief in question.
Members of the faith they represent must repeat that the NCC institutions say that any shift on this principle is to violate Articles 15, 25, 26 and 29 of the Constitution.
