PM Modi addresses open session
Addressing the open session on the second day of the BRICS summit, PM Modi said the BRICS chairmanship in New Delhi focused on the pillars of resilience, innovation, cooperation and sustainability and that with the support of members, the shared vision was transformed into “win-win cooperation”.
He added, “During India’s chairmanship, we have focused all our efforts on four pillars: resilience, innovation, collaboration and sustainability. I am glad that with your cooperation and support, we have been able to transform our shared vision into a mutually beneficial collaboration.”
In addition, PM Modi said that the BRICS network for digital agriculture will create new opportunities for farmers. Addressing the summit, he noted: “Through this initiative, artificial intelligence, geospatial technology and digital public infrastructure will be aligned with the real needs of farmers. Arming technology and critical minerals could hinder our collective progress; therefore, we emphasized inclusivity in technology adoption.”

World leaders attend open session
World leaders attended an open session on Sunday that focused on the four key pillars of the summit’s central theme: resilience, innovation, collaboration and sustainability. The session will be held at the Summit Hall in the Bharat Mandapam.
The meeting is expected to allow BRICS officials to discuss shared priorities, explore ways to deepen cooperation among member states and promote a more inclusive model of global growth.
The open session is part of the BRICS Summit India is hosting on September 12-13 under the theme “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability”.
PM Modi to hold bilateral meeting with seven leaders
On the second day of the BRICS summit, PM Modi is scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with leaders from seven countries, including South Africa, Kazakhstan, the Philippines, Egypt, Burundi, Uganda and Nigeria.
Prime Minister Modi will also meet South African President Cyril Ramaphosa on the sidelines of the summit. South Africa was a key part of BRICS.
Earlier on Friday, Prime Minister Modi had a bilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, who landed in Delhi. The meeting between the two leaders came a day before the start of the 18th BRICS summit. The two agreed to deepen their countries’ long-term ties, with Putin calling on the BRICS grouping to create a new platform for global growth that operates independently of Western rules.
