On Tuesday, 27-year-old Birdhappa Dhone, based on a goat grazing, his own and his uncle-day Belgaum in Karnatation when life turned dramatic. The news came to him that he cleaned the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) exams, ensuring the evaluation of the whole India 551.
“The immediate celebration was simple and faithful to our cultural ethos- my uncle tied the yellow Phet (turban) on my head and blurred to my forehead by Holy Bhandar (turmeric).” Someone took a picture that somehow became viral, ”Dhone said, as Indian Express quoted.
Done comes from Yamage, a village in Kagal Taluka of Kolhapur and comes from a modest background rooted in the Dhangar community, known for her traditional shepherd. His family, which relies primarily on the breeding of goat and sheep for livelihood, owns only an acre of land. Together with encouraging parents, Done also has an older brother serving as a Naik in the Indian Army.
Dhone completed the title of building engineering at College of Engineering Pune in 2020. His academic journey began at Zilla Parisad in his village, where he studied until 10, followed by his senior second education at the Jai Mahashtra school.

“My education until the XTH class was done at the Zilla Parisad school in my village with my higher secondary education at Jai Maharashtra,” Dhone said.
In the years 2020-21 Dhone worked as a postman with India post, but his ambition to join the civil servants remained steadfast. In the bold step he resigned from his work to concentrate on the preparation for UPSC exams. He moved to Delhi to chase his dream, with the financial support of a close friend who helped him settle in the city.
“There was always there in the back of my head that I had to break civil services – it was supposed to be difficult, but I knew I had to do it,” he said.
While Dhone strives to connect to the prestigious Indian administrative service, it is equally excited about serving in the Indian police service. “The police would make me excited anyway,” he said, adding that his goal as an officer is to actually listen to people and make sure their voices are heard. Looking at his success he admitted, “He still feels like a dream.”
