The rift in Hockey India deepens as President Dilip Tirkey strips DG Srivastava of his powers
The internal rift in Hockey India took a new turn on Saturday after its president Dilip Tirkey issued a legal notice to CEO Cdr RK Srivastava and stripped him of all his powers with immediate effect.
The reason for the legal notice was “to maintain discipline, accountability and smooth functioning of Hockey India”.
“On behalf of my client Mr. Dilip Tirkey, President of Hockey India, in the interest of maintaining discipline, accountability and smooth functioning of Hockey India, we hereby inform you that all your powers as CEO of HI cease with immediate effect,” Tirkey said in a legal notice to the DG in an email through his lawyer.
“You will not exercise any authority or act on behalf of Hockey India till further decision in accordance with the HI Bye-Laws,” the letter, which is in PTI’s possession, further stated.
The legal notice also directed the DG to hand over the complete operating expenses together with all official records, documents, files, official access credentials, property and pending matters to such bearers/persons as the Office of the President may designate in writing to ensure the continuity and smooth functioning of HI.
The letter was also copied to the Hockey India office and members of the Executive Council. Srivastava could not be contacted despite several attempts.
