Babar Azam entered the record books with a WTC grand slam against England

Pakistani Babar Azam (AP photo) Babar Azam achieved a major milestone during Pakistan’s match against England at Edgbaston on Friday, becoming only the fourth batsman to score 2,000 runs as captain in the World Test Championship.The Pakistan batsman reached the milestone in the third innings of the third Test against England, joining an exclusive list headed by England’s Joe Root, who will also feature in the match. Sri Lanka’s Ben Stokes and Dimuth Karunaratne are the other two batsmen to cross the line.Babar got there in 41 innings, making him the third fastest batsman to reach 2000 WTC runs as a captain. Root and Karunaratne share the record for the fastest to reach the milestone, having done so in 40 innings. It took Stokes 61 innings to achieve this.
