“The retail has evolved over the years and the main driver is a consumer,” said Sadique Ahmed, CEO, Pathfinder at the 2025 Tamil Summit, organized by Hinda together with the SRM Institute of Science and Technology and presented himself together with SIFY technologies.
In an interview with John Xavier, an editor – technology, Hindus, on “Democratizing Retail – How AI seizes the business of all sizes”, Mr. Ahmed said that in retail who adapted and changed, they succeeded while traditional retailers fought. “The reason for suffering is the gap has now spread … if their rescue comes miraculously … they would die,” he said that he refers to the technological advances that are happening in this particular sector.
He explained how technology improved and how one knew what the consumer would buy at the weekend. He also pointed out that the technology developed, but there was no adoption. “It is purely because the availability of technology is limited or the cost of receiving it is high and there is also the mentality of the herd like” Let someone do it and then follow “,” he added.
Mr. Ahmed, who noticed that a quick trade was always, said that shops in the neighborhood were like a fast shop that cares for the needs of neighborhood and home delivery. “But they lost because they didn’t follow the pace. The new platforms understood that they were sitting in one place, they could know what the consumer wanted,” he said.
He also noted that most online platforms now also have a physical business. “Why … because an adventure purchase will never die. Fygital is a solution – the retail must be there physically and digitally,” he said. He also touched on how consumers expected remuneration for their expenses and how the brands were chasing this trend.
