Sashikumar Sreedharan, CEO, Google Cloud (India), said the younger generation should develop the ability to look beyond the obvious business potential of a problem and recognize the opportunities it brings to people and society.

Speaking as the guest of honor at the convocation ceremony of Digital University Kerala (DUK) on Thursday, Mr. Sreedharan added that products and services are evolving into experiences in a smart and increasingly digital world, while boundaries between different sectors are increasingly blurred.

Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, who serves as chancellor of the university, said that while colonial education was largely designed to produce people to serve the existing system, new models of education should produce individuals capable of leading change.

He also urged the graduates to move beyond job hunting and develop a broader sense of responsibility towards the nation.

The governor presented diplomas to students who successfully completed master’s programs in the academic year 2024-26, as well as to the first batch of DUK doctoral students.

Vice-Chancellor Saji Gopinath, Registrar A. Mujeeb, Dean (Academics) R. Jaishanker, Dean (Research) Asharaf S, Controller of Examinations Alex P. James and other faculty members also participated in the programme.
