A 10th generation descendant of Bhakta Ramadasu offers prayers at the Kanaka Durga Temple

Kancherla Srinivasa Rao, a 10th generation descendant of saintly poet and devotee Bhakta Ramadasu (Kancherla Gopanna), along with his family members offered prayers at the Sri Kanaka Durga Temple atop Indrakeeladri in Vijayawada on Friday.

Temple Executive Director VK Seena Naik received Mr. Srinivasa Rao and his family and arranged for their special darshan of Goddess Kanaka Durga.

After darshan, Vedic scholars performed Veda Ashirvachanam for the family at the Ashirvachanam Mandapam in the temple premises. Mr. Naik presented the couple with a portrait of Goddess Kanaka Durga, laddu prasadam and seshavastram.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Srinivasa Rao said that it was a great fortune for his family to belong to the lineage of Bhakta Ramadasu who spread devotion to Lord Rama through his devotional compositions.

Thanking the temple authorities for welcoming his family and making special arrangements for their darshan, he said the gesture brought them immense happiness and spiritual satisfaction.
