Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC), Kumbakonam, plans to overpay its time and duration of various bus routes to cover the distance up to the integrated bus terminal (IBT) to be entrusted with the main Minister MK Stalin.
According to sources, TNSTC has 3 448 buses. Of these, 1,257 buses are operated as city and city buses and 1,929 are classified as remote vehicles (Mofussil buses). The number of substitute buses is 280. Almost one third of the 3,448 buses are operated from the central bus booth in Tiruch to various cities such as Nagapattinam, Tiruvarur, Thanjavur, Pudukottai, Chidambarama, Cuddalore, Pernalur, Ariyrur, Madurai and Karur. There are also buses to Chennai and Villupuram. All buses are expected to follow a new schedule as soon as the buses are operated from the newly built IBT in Panjapur on the Tiruchi-Madurai motorway.
TnStc, head of TNSTC, told Hindu that all buses that were operated from the central bus booth in Tiruch would be extended to IBT. Once the new bus terminus is inaugurated, the operation of the operation would be moved to Panjapur. While long distances buses will be operated from the basement, city buses would be operated from the first new bus term.
The distance of the existing bus routes for city buses would eventually increase by about five km. According to the new system, which was processed by joining various parties, city buses left Panjapur and layers across the intersection of Tiruchi and the central bus booth, which would be converted into a city bus booth. No buses miss the central bus stand. For example, buses paying between Tiruchi and Srirangam will be operated between Panjapur and Srirangam.
Since the new bus terminus was located about five km from the central bus booth, the clerk said that the cover distance of different buses would be overcrowded. For buses, it may not be possible to maintain the same number of existing paths. One or two trips could go down. However, it was decided to cover all existing trips by injection of new buses. It may require 20 to 25 other buses to cover services.
City tickets for long distances could change according to the distance covered. While the fare in the buses between Madurai and Tiruchi could drop, buses from northern cities and state cities could witness a marginal growth, the official said.
