The State Cabinet on Wednesday decided to upgrade Keral School of Mathematics (KSOM), a joint initiative of Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment and the Ministry of Atomic Energy, as the Center of Excellence.
The Advanced Research Institute, located in Kunnamangalam in Kozhikode, will be developed on the lines of the Institute of Mathematical Sciences in Chennai.
The decision is governed by the proposal submitted by the KSOM, which is to be included among the 30 centers of excellence announced by the state government.
The KSOM currently offers an integrated MSC-PPHD program in mathematics with a maximum income of 12 students, except for doctoral and postdoToToToToRandan programs. The institution is limited by four members of the faculty, including the director. The upgrade will strengthen its strength of employees, expand the research areas and introduce more benefits, said official sources.
The expected funding will also allow significant strengthening of the physical infrastructure and its library facilities.
