The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), a platform for political parody, has gained more than 22.8 million followers on Instagram since it was launched as a joke last weekend after India’s chief justice allegedly compared unemployed youth to “cockroaches”.
The campaign, which started as a social media Google form, had a website with millions of registrations. However, its website is no longer available in the country and appears to be down elsewhere as well. group founder, Abhijeet Deepkasaid the CJP’s “iconic website” had been removed.

Earlier, X CJP’s official page – with over 200,000 followers – was also seized in India. Those who try to open it will see a message that it has been held “in response to a legal request”.
Dipke, a political communication strategist and student at Boston University in the US, also said that both his personal and the group’s Instagram accounts were hacked.
The CJP – or Cockroach People’s Party – satirizes the name Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which has been in power since 2014.
The group calls itself “the voice of the lazy and unemployed”. The criteria for membership in the society are being chronically online and having “the ability to chat professionally”.
Dipke, 30, told Mint earlier that CJP’s popularity is a manifestation of growing discontent among young indians about high unemployment rates and feeling ignored by mainstream political parties.

A critical question is currently being raised about the future of the campaign. Will it die out like other online campaigns or will it continue and turn into a physical movement.
Viral online campaign

Dipkewho launched the satirical digital movement popularly known as CJP, made the appeal in a new Instagram video that quickly gained traction online.
Addressing his followers in Hindi, Dipke urged them to support the petition campaign in large numbers.
“How are you my cockroaches? Everyone tells me I’ve taken the internet by storm. But I think it’s time to do some real work – the reason we started this. Today we’re launching a petition calling for the resignation of the education minister,” Dipke said in the video.
What’s next for Cockroach Janta Party?
Well, CJP has announced his future plans. The campaign acknowledged in an Instagram post that while it started as a satirical voice, it quickly “resonated with millions of young Indians frustrated by systemic issues like paper leaks, unemployment and lack of accountability in the system.”
“Cockroaches are the ultimate survivors, thriving in dark crevices and surviving every attempt to close them. This is what it often feels like to be young in this country – mistreated, overlooked and overlooked, but never giving up on life,” the post read.
The CJP also hit out at the government over the removal of its X handle, “constant attempts by some to hack” all its social media and “smear campaigns”, calling them “unfortunate but not entirely shocking”.
“Youth-driven independent movement”
“As the movement grows exponentially with each passing day, there is growing public interest in the direction it will take in the coming days. We want to make it clear – we want to build an independent youth-led movement that will focus on expanding the interests of the youth and hold the government accountable. Our values are aligned with the Constitution of India. We are inspired by the founders of our nation – Ambukar, Gandhi Shaheed Bhagat Singh and Netaji Subhash Chandra Bosewe believe in secularism, democracy and social justice,” the post clarified the ideology of the outfit.

Over the next few days, the post read, CJP will gather suggestions from our community of more than 22 million and turn the best ideas into targeted campaigns.
“Following this, we want to work on collective structured action,” the post read.
Plea seeks legal action against CJP
A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) has been initiated in the Supreme Court against ‘Cockroach Janta Party’ Abhijeet Dipke on allegations that it misused and commercialized the words of the Supreme Court, he said. FLIGHT.
The petition also demanded an independent investigation, preferably by the authority Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), to allegations that individuals posing as lawyers with fraudulent degrees are practicing law.
“The emergence of entities and token campaigns purporting to use courtroom terms for publicity, business applications, commercial engagement, and digital mobilization demonstrates a dangerous commodification of constitutional proceedings,” the lawsuit states.
