The protests overnight continued outside the office of the West Bengal School Services (WBSSC) in Salt Lake in Calcutta on Tuesday with hundreds of teachers who demanded the publication of a comprehensive list of “tuned” and “unknown” teachers, even though Mamata Baerjee’s chief Minister asked them to “return to work”.
The Supreme Court Had on April 17 Grant Relief for the West Bengal Government by Allowing the Services of the “Specifically” Unattated Candidates/Teachers in the State’s Government and Aided Schools to Be Retained Till The Fresh Recruitment Process Is Completed by the End of 2025. Judgment of the Court Had Terminated Their Services After Declaring the Entire 2016 Recruitment Process Null and Void Due to “Due To the Egregious Violations and Illegbities”.
11 April, State Minister of Education, Bratya Basu assured that the lists would be published by April 21st. However, the deadline was not fulfilled, which led to escalation of protests. Teachers have limited WBSSC chairman Siddhartha Majumdar since Monday evening and demand the resignation of Mr. Bas and Mr. Majumdar. In addition to the WBSSC, which contained the situation, there was also a huge contingent of the police and the staff of the fast action forces.
“How do we go to work without knowing who deserves a candidate and who is not and without knowing that our work is safe?” Protesting teachers presented in the edition published on Tuesday after meeting with the chairman of WBSSC.
Mr. Basa said on Tuesday that the government will soon file a petition for a review at the Supreme Court, because it cannot publish the lists until the court “allows” them.
On Tuesday, Mrs. Banerjee assured the teacher to receive their salaries. “Don’t give up provocation and trust people who have taken the job,” she said, urging them to return to their duties.
Bharatiya Janata (BJP) and the head of the State Unit Sukant Majumdar attacked the government of the Congress of Trinamool and stated that the teachers lost their jobs for the main minister and other leaders.
