Tight security, traffic diversions planned for BJP rally in Ballari

The Ballari district police have made elaborate security arrangements and announced traffic diversions ahead of the BJP’s public meeting at the Municipal High School ground in Ballari on Thursday.

The meeting is being organized as the final program of BJP’s Ballari Chalo padayatra. Police said measures were taken to ensure the meeting was peaceful and to minimize inconvenience to the public.

As per instructions issued by Superintendent of Police Suman D. Pennekar, three District Superintendents of Police, four Additional Superintendents of Police, 12 Deputy Superintendents of Police, 40 Circle Inspectors of Police, 63 Sub-Inspectors of Police, 120 Assistant Sub-Inspectors, 960 Head Constables and 200 Constables have been deployed for Home Guard and Constables.

Besides, 12 platoons of Indian Reserve Battalion and Karnataka State Reserve Police, six platoons of District Armed Reserves and one Rapid Response Team were deployed.

Traffic restrictions will be in place around the venue. Police advised motorists to avoid roads passing through Gadigi Chennappa Circle, Indira Circle, Durgamma Temple Circle, SP Circle and HR Gaviappa Circle and take alternate routes.

Vehicles coming from Sirugappa have been advised to take Moka Road via Valmiki Circle (SP Circle) and Durgamma Temple Circle. Vehicles coming from Bengaluru side have been advised to use Anantapur bypass.

The police also made separate parking arrangements for vehicles carrying BJP workers and other participants.

Buses carrying participants will drop them at Sangam Circle and proceed to the parking lot along the Anantapur Road and Moka Road bypass. Cars will be parked on both sides of the road between Sangam Circle and Anantapur Road bypass. Parking for two-wheelers has been arranged on one side of the road between Sangam Circle and Cool Corner, while cars will be allowed to park on the other side.

Ms Pennekar appealed to the public and motorists to co-operate with police and monitor traffic detours to help regulate congestion during the meeting.
