Punjabi singer and actor Ammy Virk was reportedly caught shooting in Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada, shortly after performing at a concert on September 5. The vehicle, believed to be part of his concert convoy, came under fire from occupants of a dark-colored SUV, according to multiple reports.
The Abbotsford Police Department confirmed that a vehicle was shot at shortly after 11:00 pm in the 2500 block of McCallum Road. No injuries were reported in the incident.
What happened?
Virk performed at the Rogers Forum in Abbotsford that evening. According to a News18 report, he left the place with his convoy around 11:00 pm.
Indo-Canadian Voice reported that a vehicle believed to be part of a convoy linked to Virk was fired upon by occupants of a dark-colored SUV.
Some reports identified the targeted vehicle as a bulletproof Rolls-Royce Cullinan carrying four people, including Virk. However, these details have not been independently confirmed by Abbotsford Police.
Police also did not confirm if Virk was inside the vehicle when he was shot at or if he identified the intended target.
Police investigation
The Abbotsford Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit is investigating the shooting and trying to determine a motive.
Police are appealing for witnesses and people who may have dashcam footage from the McCallum Road area on September 5 between 10.45pm and 11.30pm. It is also seeking information from people who were in the Sunnyside Place area between 11pm and midnight.
No arrests have yet been reported.
What did Amma Virk’s father say?
When news of the shooting broke, Virk’s father Kuljit Singh told The Tribune that he learned about the incident on Wednesday and was trying to contact his son.
Singh said that Virk’s brother Bhagwant speaks to the singer daily and informed him that the firing was not aimed at Virk’s vehicle. He claimed the incident was instead linked to the party that organized the singer’s show.
Singh also said that Virk is safe and has no enmity with anyone. His account has not been independently confirmed by Canadian authorities.

Ammy Virk, real name Amninderpal Singh Virk, is a prominent Punjabi singer and actor who has also appeared in Hindi films.
