New Delhi: The government asked all states and trade unions (UTS) to introduce urgent and coordinated measures to protect workers from heat stress.
The order is governed by a mint report that has appeared in Tuesday’s edition, emphasizing the growing tolls of extreme wave waves on Indian workforce, especially in production industries.
In a letter sent on Tuesday to all main secretaries and administrators, the Ministry of Labor and employment ordered the authorities to issue clear instructions to employers, occupiers, industries and construction companies to take the necessary steps to protect workers at growing temperatures.
Mint said that as the summer comes before the plan, the predictions of intensive thermal waves increase alarms through the industrial heart of the nation.

Given that millions of workers who are struggling with heat in factories and mines without protection, experts warn that rising temperatures could strangle productivity, which would risk slowing in the Indian vital manufacturing sector.
The Office for the weather office – India Metrological Department (IMD) – has issued a warning to Heatwave for South Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Southern Haryan and Maharashtra’s Vidarbha region within 24 April.
For most of the country, the relief is unlikely as long as the monsoon rains arrive. It is expected that the industry -intensive work, such as textiles, leather and small engineering, will bear the onslaught of thermal waves, experts said.
Government counseling
Government counseling recommends a multi -world reaction and mentions several strategies of alleviation, including working hours, ensuring access to clean drinking water, improving ventilation at workplaces, establishing rest and ensuring regular health inspections.

“Employers were also invited to provide materials for preventing thermal diseases such as ice packages and oral rehydration salts, especially for outdoor staff in construction and brick furnaces,” the ministry said.
In high -risk sectors such as mining and production, the letter advises the factory and mining to allow slower working pace, introducing flexible shifts, deploying teams of two people during extreme heat and ensuring correct ventilation, especially in underground operations.
Awareness and education also form a key part of the reaction of the Ministry. Institutions Under the Ministers of Labor and Employment –including the Directorate General of Labor Welfare (DGLW), Chief Labor Commissioner (CLC), Directorate General Factory Advice and Labor Institutes (DGFASLI), Directorate General of the Mines Safety (DGMS), VV Giri National Labor Institute (VVGNLI), and the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) —Have Been Instructed to Conduct In its educational programs, awareness increases and includes specific Heatwave modules.
The aim of this effort is to educate workers about the causes and symptoms of heat stress, preventive strategies and ways to stay safe under extreme weather conditions.

Temperature
The temperature increase is the hardest in the factories operating furnaces, boilers and other heat generating equipment. Steel production requires melting raw materials at temperatures above 1,500 ° C before improvement and throwing them into shapes. Similarly, the production of engineering goods includes heat -intensive processes such as casting, fittings and welding.
There is no immediate relief in sight. IMD assumed a gradual increase of 2-3 ° C at maximum temperatures in Northwest India, including states Haryan, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Pandjab, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh, over the next five days.
