By the end of 2025, Tamil Nadu plans to commission a Coimbatore defensive and air park.
Tamil Nadu Industrial Officer (Tidco) said that the 350-Acre park coming in Varappatti in the district would have an industry in the semiconductor, defense and aerospace industry. Last year, MK Stalin, Chief Minister of MK, handed over letters of land allocation to 10 industries. Of the 350 acres, 280 will be for the industry, with the rest to be used to develop a common infrastructure. Of the 280 acres, 100 were allocated for semiconductor industry.
The official said Tidco invited the industry in 2023 to present the manifestations of interest in the park investment, and the 10 industries have so far taken 43 acres to the defense and air industries. There are questions for more land. “We want to close this project by the end of September,” the clerk said.
Tamil Nadu Small Industries Development Corporation and Tidco are developing a common infrastructure in the park. “The work is approaching,” the official added.
Another official said that the smaller industry based on Coimbatore also showed interest in the park. Almost 70% of the space in the park was either assigned or has inquiry. The facility is expected to have a huge impact on Coimbatore, because more players will come with its suppliers and the local MSME will also be given the opportunity to satisfy more defense, the aerospace or semiconductor industry.
