
When Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarked on a visit to Saudi Arabia, Congress today reminded the first visit to the King of Saudi to India in November-December 1955, after which the Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nezru Nehru went to the Middle East.
The General Secretary of the In-Remise Communication Jairam Ramesh shared two video clippings from a visit to the Saudi King in 1955 and Nezru’s visit to Saudi Arabia in 1956.
“When the Prime Minister starts his visit to Saudi Arabia, it is worth remembering the first visit to the King of Saudi to India, which took place in November 1955,” said Ramesh.
King Saud Bin Abdulasiz Al Saud was in India for 17 days between November 26 and 13 December 1955, visited a new Delhi in Mumbai, Khadakwasl, Bengaluru, Mysur, Hyderabad, Agra, Aligar and Varanasi, Ramesh said in his post on X.
“An extraordinary visit to the 1955 King of Saudi overlapped with a visit to two Soviet leaders Nikita Khrushchev and Nikolai Bulganin, who spent a total of 19 days in India in two magic – 18 November 1955 to 30.
