The Rohit Sharma opener is expected to retain his captain for the Indian five test tour after England. The PTI press agency reported that Sharma, if fit, would continue to lead the party in the second half of 2024 despite two unsatisfactory trips against New Zealand and Australia.
If the news is to believe, the Indian team for the test series will be declared against England in the second May. PTI announced that at least six candidates would be for several middle -order reserve slots.
During the tour of Australia, the BCCi sent a 17-member team, but for five tests against England, the final group could shorten to 15 or 16, as the presence of India and contingent, if necessary, facilitates the challenge of strengthening.
Changes are expected, because several players from the home circuit were extremely well worked in the recent season of Ranji trophy. Karun Nair, which impressed red and white balls, is likely to be given a chance to tour and can be potentially developed into a test group.
If they are all fit, then Rohit Sharma, Yashsvi Jaiswal, Kl Rahul, SHUBMAN GILL and VIRAT KOHLI will be automatic selection on the test side. The slot of versatile turning is expected to remain at Nitish Kumar Reddy for now.
Although no names have been completed, according to PTI, at least six players are expected to be in a serious dispute. One, if not two, could penetrate the senior team, while the others are likely to be a series of lions in India that will run in parallel.
Players in the mix for the test series vs England
B Sai Sudharsan:
With seven centuries in 29 first -class matches, Sai Sudhasan is a strong candidate in a cricket with a red ball. He has already created a name with Gujarat Titans in IPL. Selectors carefully follow the left for their solid technique and also worked well for India and Australia before picking up injuries. His ability to bat on both at the top and middle order gives him added value. At the age of 23 and a half years she looks ready for a big scene.
Shreyas Iyer:
Shreyas Iyer 2.0 is a much improved player with a red ball that returns with a closer technique and a more confident approach to handling the short -term bowling. Experience will be essential in England and with 14 tests under its band – including one in England in 2022 – Iyer could be a valuable supplement. Rajat Patidar:
Based on purely on recent statistics, Patidar may have missed his chance of a test cricket because he could not register one fifty against England at home. However, it remains one of the most elegant doughs outside the current settings, with a wide range of moves. But its elegance can sometimes be its demise. After a modest season of ranji with less than 450 runs, it is not clear whether the selection committee Ajit Agarkar will lead the jump of faith.
Karun Nair:
Karun Nair, one of the only two Indian doughs that scored the triple century in tests, lost his way to rediscovery with Vidarbha. His star home season saw him over 850 runs. A few seasons tweet: “Dear cricket, give me one more chance,” and England tour could only be the opportunity. In 2018, he failed to impress the then coach Ravi Shastri and Captain Virat Kohli on clean sessions, but 2025 could be another story for men Bengalur.
Devdutt Padikkal:
Patikkal, a stylish left -handed that got his test debut in Australia in Australia due to the absence of Rohit Sharma, showed the flashes of the potential in the firm stand of the second shift with Yashsvi Jaiswal. Sarfaraz Khan:
