
Two men accused of killing a father-Syn duo in Murshidabad were arrested on Monday (April 21, 2025) in the Oish district of Jharsugud after a special working group from West Bengal watched through the State Lines.
Haragobindo Das (77) and his son Chandan Das (40) were killed during the protests at the WAQF (amendment) in Jafrabad 12 April. Their house was reportedly looted.
“West Bengal StF came to the Jharsugud district. After the props of West Bengal StF, Banharpali police, with other officers from the Jharsugud district, carried out raids in various places below Bandhabahal Outpost,” said Parmar Parmar Smit Parmar Smit.
Jharsuguda SP said, “According to the police of the West Bengal, the Jharsugud team was detained by two individuals – Safaul Haque and Israel.
“The police team fired four laps as a warning missiles in the air to discourage them. They were successfully detained for a quick response of the police team,” Mr. Parshottamdas said.
In addition to Bani Israel and Sefaul Haque, six residents of Murshidabad have been identified and detained by a joint team of Jharsugud and West Bengal StF from the Bandhbahal. Reportedly, they were involved in Murshidabad violence.

Six men Murshidabad worked in the building sector in the Odisha Jharsugud area. “Last month they went home on the eve of Eid Ul-Fitr. When they were at home, there was violence. They reportedly participated in violence. They are well familiar with Jharsugud’s geography,” he said.
