Nadal was awarded on Monday a prestigious Sports icon at Laureus World Sports Awards in Madrid.
“The truth is that I don’t miss tennis. Zero.
“But not because I ended up tired tennis or fight against tennis, not at all. I finished my career happy, and if I could have, I would continue because I loved what I was doing. It was my passion, and it was my whole life.”
“It’s just that if you realize that you can’t do it physically … you’re trying to close this chapter. And I closed it,” he added.
Rafael Nadal admitted that he somehow pulled his retirement.
Who is the IPL player?
“I postponed my final decision because I needed time to be sure it was right. What would be hard to sit on my sofa and wondering if I should try to play,” he said.
“When I saw my body would not recover to the level I needed to continue to have fun in court, then I decided to stop.
“That’s why I don’t miss it. Because I ended up calmly when I knew I gave him everything, and that my body couldn’t give more,” Nadal added.
