A Delhi court on Monday sent Satya Niketan, a paying guest (PG) of accommodation owner Hariram Gupta and his wife Urmila Gupta, to 14-day judicial custody in connection with the building collapse that killed seven people, Bar and bench reported.

Their son Mahesh Gupta was sent to police custody for two days. The order was issued by Judicial Magistrate First Class Bhavya Kharail, media reported.

The development comes at a time when the investigation into the September 6 collapse in Delhi has raised questions about the construction and renovation work in a building that was being used as a boys’ PG near Delhi University’s South Campus.

The FIR alleges that despite load concerns, four floors were added

According to the FIR, the building was several years old and its owners, identified as Hari Bansal and his brother, had constructed the four upper floors allegedly for rental income.
