4 games, 17 goals: Lamine, Fermin continue Barcelona’s devastating start to the new season

Barcelona continued their dominance in the opening days of the 2026-17 LaLiga season, scoring 5 goals away from home to Valencia. The win continued Barcelona’s perfect start to the season, winning all 4 of their games so far.

The 5 goals scored by Lamine Yamal (2), Fermin Lopez, Raphinha and Pedri also took Barcelona up to 17 goals this season.

And it’s not just the numbers that were impressive. Barcelona looked to be in complete control of their fixtures as Hansi Flick’s side produced another ruthless attacking display to beat Valencia 5-0 on Sunday.

FERMIN, YAMAL IS FOR BARCELONA

Fermin Lopez was at the heart of the demolition job, scoring once and setting up two more as Barcelona took control almost immediately. Lamine Yamal opened the scoring on six minutes when he lifted his effort past Valencia keeper Stole Dimitrievski from a tight angle after being picked out by Fermin.

The young forward later rejoined the match, but before that it was Fermin’s turn to grab the headlines.

Anthony Gordon’s pass found Fermin on the edge of the box and the midfielder made a powerful save from 18 yards into the net in the 22nd minute. Barcelona went into the break with a comfortable two-goal lead and showed no signs of letting Valencia back into the game.

Fermin then turned to the provider again after a reboot. Yamal found space behind the Valencia defense before Fermin collected a pass and leveled the ball across the six-yard box, where Raphinha arrived to tap home in the 50th minute.

Barcelona continued to create chances almost at will, Valencia had a hard time coping with the movement and intensity of the visitors.

‘ALMOST PERFECT GAME’

“He (Fermin) has a lot of energy and intensity,” Flick said after the match. “He gets into the box, he’s very dangerous and he can score goals. He’s always pressing without the ball and trying to win it back.”

In the 79th minute, Pedri added Barcelona’s fourth and after another period of sustained pressure he calmly slotted the ball into the net.

He still had time for Yamal to finish his brace. The Barcelona youngster slotted home from close range to cap another emphatic performance and take his side’s LaLiga goals tally to 17 in just four games.

“We played a great game, almost perfect,” Flick said. “We were in control, we dominated. That’s what I want from the team, to control the game, create spaces and score if possible.”

Barcelona now sit at the top of the LaLiga table with 12 points from four games, two ahead of second-placed Alaves, who also enjoyed a high-profile win as they beat Osasuna 5-2.

It was a miserable afternoon for Valencia. They remain rooted to the bottom of the table with just one point from their opening four games, while Barcelona continue to set the pace at the other end.

Four games, 17 goals and a perfect start. Flick’s Barcelona are wasting no time in showing they intend to be a force again this season.
