Rural roads in Belagavi will be developed under Pragatipath

Belagavi Zilla Panchayat will start construction of 481.14 km of rural roads in the district under the state government’s Pragatipath scheme.
They will be developed in all 18 assembly seats at a cost of ₹350 crore.
“The state government has started a project with the help of Asian Development Bank (ADB) to construct 7,110 km of rural roads in the state at a cost of ₹ 5,190 crore. The last project was started six years ago. The work will start soon,” Public Works Minister Satish Jarkiholi said.
“The aim of this scheme is to bring the rural roads in good condition and build a systematic and quality road network. This project will be implemented with external financial assistance of 70% loan and 30% government share. It is a five-year maintenance project. Karnataka Rural Road Development Corporation will monitor these works. The project will be implemented on a constituency-wise package basis,” said Zilla Pancharayat Executive Director.
Consultants prepared estimates and tenders were floated for the first phase of 230.54 km at a cost of ₹ 163 crore.
“Pragatipath is a major development project undertaken by the state government to improve rural connectivity. It is a five-year annual maintenance plan. The work will be supervised by the Karnataka Rural Road Development Corporation. Tenders have already been floated for the construction of the road,” Mr. Shindhe said, according to the report.
