Pakistani fans hurl sexist abuse at Kranti Goud during IND vs PAK clash: Video

A video from India’s Women’s Asia Cup match against Pakistan has sparked outrage after Kranti Goud appeared to be subjected to sexist and gender-based abuse from spectators during the match.

In a video circulating on social media platform X, derogatory remarks about the Indian cricketer’s gender and appearance can be heard, including repeated claims that she was a man. The identity of the spectators and the circumstances of the incident could not be independently verified.

The incident sparked criticism on the internet, with users condemning the offensive remarks directed at Goud during one of the biggest rivalries in women’s cricket.

SEXIST ABUSE CAUGHT ON VIDEO

The alleged heckling came during India’s dominant seven-wicket win over Pakistan in their Women’s Asia Cup T20 encounter on Saturday.

While the video sparked a debate on social media about the treatment of female athletes, Gouda’s name and the nature of the remarks became a major point of discussion after the game.

Gender-based abuse and comments about physical appearance female athletes remain a recurring problem in sports, especially on social media and in stadiums. A video involving Gouda again drew attention to the issue, with fans calling the remarks unacceptable.

SPINNERS POWER INDIA’S ROUTE

On the field, India produced an utterly dominant performance as they bowled out Pakistan for just 55 in 18.1 overs, their lowest total in T20 internationals.

Young spinners Shree Charani and Prema Rawat led the demolition, picking up three wickets each. Charani returned figures of 3/7 from four overs, while leg-spinner Prema claimed 3/9. Deepti Sharma took 2/5 while Shafali Verma also chipped in a wicket.

Pakistan started confidently, reaching 27 for no loss, but collapsed dramatically after the Indian spinners took control. Bowlers Harmanpreet Kaur produced a stunning 78 as Pakistan lost six wickets in just nine overs to slip from 27/0 to 36/6.

India then chased down the modest target in 8.4 overs despite losing three wickets. Captain Harmanpreet remained unbeaten on 18 a sealed the win with a sixwhile Deepti didn’t come out on 12th.

The win continued India’s dominance over Pakistan in the Women’s Asia Cup T20, with India now winning seven out of eight matches in the competition.
