Who is Prawin Ganeshan? Why Tamil Nadu CEO was detained at Delhi airport after going to Hong Kong | Today’s news
The CEO of Tamil Nadu-based logistics firm Wintrack Prawin Ganeshan was detained by immigration officials at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi, the businessman said in a social media post. The 35-year-old man, who left India on bribery charges, was traveling from Hong Kong when he was detained by the immigration department based on a Look Out Circular (LOC) issued by the Chennai Cyber Crime Police.
“I have been detained by the Immigration Office at IGI Airport, Delhi due to a Look Out Circular (LOC) issued by the Cyber Crime / Tamil Nadu Police, Chennai regarding X’s Twitter post in June which has already been deleted. We need a Criminal Defense Lawyer in Delhi/NCR who can immediately call IGI Airport Police Station or Patiala House Court to arrange any available criminal assistance and challenge lawyer at upcoming transfer. nets (sic),” read X’s social media post.
Ganeshan handed over to the Cyber Crime Squad in Chennai
Ganeshan was subsequently handed over to officers from the IGI department of the Delhi Police. He was detained by the IGI police on Saturday as the Chennai Cyber Crime team was yet to reach Delhi.

“Ganeshan was detained by the IGI branch of the Delhi Police earlier on Saturday as the cyber crime team from Chennai was yet to arrive. He was handed over to the team,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (IGI) Vichitra Veer told ThePrint.
According to a report by ThePrint, Ganeshan was allegedly detained for a defamatory post against Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay and actor Trisha Krishnan.
“Ganeshan posted a defamatory statement about the CM in June and while it was deleted, the Cyber Crime Unit of Chennai South Zone issued an LOC on the complaint of a social activist,” an officer said, according to ThePrint.
According to the police officer, the complainant noticed the social media post and kept the screenshot along with the URL before contacting the police.
The Chennai police later produced Ganeshan before a magistrate who granted a transit permit allowing the police to take him to Chennai.
Who is Prawin Ganeshan?
Prawin Ganeshan has built a career spanning retail, import-export, logistics, pharmaceuticals and international trade. His professional journey began in Great Britain where, according to his professional profile, he worked as a kiosk supervisor at Manchester United from October 2009 to June 2010.
He later entered into business and as of May 2011 is listed as the owner of GP Traders, a company engaged in import, export, distribution, wholesale and online retailing of consumer electronics, FMCG and other goods.
In May 2014, Ganeshan founded Kamakart, a sexual wellness retailer based in Tiruppur, and remains its founder and CEO. The company describes itself as a retailer of physical and online sexual wellness with operations that have expanded beyond India.
He subsequently diversified into other businesses. In January 2022, he became the owner of Tantra Pharmacy in Chennai, which deals in wholesale and retail of pharmaceutical products, surgical goods and cosmetics. Joined Wintrack Limited Partnership as a partner in June 2022. His profile also lists him as a director of Dongguan Shengdao Import & Export Co. Ltd in China, which he has held since March 2023.

His work at Wintrack focused on international trade, sourcing, logistics, warehousing, distribution and wholesale and retail operations. He also described himself as a specialist in purchasing and cross-border logistics in China.
Ganeshan first attracted attention in 2025 when Wintrack alleged that Chennai customs officials sought bribes and harassed the company in connection with its imports.
However, the Chennai Customs Department denied these allegations. A detailed post on social media claimed that the company was making false allegations in response to the review.
