The new electronic waste management policy is in the pipeline, said Chief Secretary Andhra Pradesh K. Vijayanand, adding that reducing, re -use centers, recycling (RRR) would be established across the State for the collection and processing of electronic waste.
It emphasized the importance of scientific elaboration of electrical and electric waste and stated that such initiatives would help protect the environment and support the circular economy.
“Proper e-waste processing not only helps to control pollution, but also contributes to sustainable economic development,” said Mr. Vijayanand on Saturday’s program organized as part of the Swarnandhra-Swachhandhra ‘initiative on Saturday Sri Venkateswara Vignan in Gunture.
Vijayanand, emphasized the importance of the monthly third Saturian thematic units with thematic cleanliness, initiated by the main Minister of N. Chandrababa Naida, that this month he focuses on electronic waste management.
Swachhandhra Corporation Kommareddy Pattabhi Ram said India was globally the third largest electronic waste producer and generated 3.8 million tonnes of waste every year, of which only 15% to 20% were processed.
“Awareness is created in the conversion of waste into wealth through proper proceedings and the upcoming state budget will reflect generating income from waste recycling,” said Pattabhi RAM.
A vehicle of collection electronic waste
On this occasion, a recycling vehicle was launched, reused.
Collector Guntur S. Nagalakshmi said the vehicle would collect electronic waste from urban and rural areas to facilitate the responsible waste disposal, adding that two more vehicles would be launched very soon.
Citizens are motivated to store electronic waste in designated facilities instead of throwing it out irresponsibly, she said.
The Municipal Commissioner Puli Srinivasul said that in all 206 secretariats in the guntur there are campaigns for awareness. He called for citizens to participate in this effort for a clearer and safer environment.
