Govindaraja Swamy goes to Chinna Sesha, Hamsa Vahanams on the second day of Brahmotsavams

The second day of the nine-day annual Brahmotsavams at Sri Govindaraja Swamy Temple TTD witnessed colorful processions of the deity on ‘Chinna Sesha Vahanam’ in the morning and ‘Hamsa Vahanam’ in the evening.

The morning procession, which took place between 7 am and 9 am, was accompanied by Vedic chants and played by the TTD band accompanied by drums and brass instruments. Artistes from various bhajan groups performed dance ballets and Kolatam performances before the procession. Devotees lined the streets to offer ‘harathi’ to the deity and seek His blessings.

In the afternoon, ‘Snapana Tirumanjanam’, a ceremonial heavenly bath with milk, curd, honey, sandalwood paste and fruit juices was performed for the deities to take a break from the scorching summer heat.

Later in the evening, the deity was taken in a procession on ‘Hamsa Vahanam’, the celestial carrier of swans, along the four Mada streets surrounding the temple.
