General Education Minister N. Samsudheen said an order would soon be issued to address the concerns of about 1,600 teachers whose appointments have been put on hold in recent years in the wake of a dispute related to reservation for the differently-abled.

He was speaking after inaugurating the state-level Teachers’ Day celebrations here on Saturday (September 5). Mr. Samsudheen said that 4% of the posts will be clearly reserved for people with different disabilities to ensure that the appointment process is completed in a transparent manner. A special list will be prepared that will include all meetings in schools. A writ petition was filed in the Supreme Court to remove the obstacles related to K-TET.

Mr. Samsudheen also said that the criteria for creating posts of physical education teachers will be relaxed.
