Labor, Employment and Dharwad District Minister in-charge of Dharwad region, Santosh Lad launched a ‘Praja Seva’ campaign to address people’s grievances in a time-bound manner at Janata English Medium High School, Kalaghatagi on Saturday.

Mr. Lad said that the government had set up the Praja Seva department to address the problems of the people and ensure their speedy disposal. “The government will reach the doorsteps of the people. Grievances will be heard and resolved at the taluk and district levels,” he said.

He said the officials have been instructed to dispose of the petitions within the stipulated time. Praja Seva campaign meetings will be organized in every taluk, he added.

Prasad Abbayya, MLA, said that the government was committed to serve the people, especially farmers, laborers and women. He urged the elected representatives and officials to discharge their duties honestly and address the grievances within the prescribed time frame.

NH Konareddi, MLA, thanked the people of the state for electing the 136-seat Congress government and said the government has a responsibility to serve them. According to him, government programs should reach people at their doorsteps.

Mr Konareddi said more than 42 petitions had already been submitted during the campaign and urged officials to act swiftly. He also said that 101 taluks have already been declared drought-affected and another 24 taluks have been added to the list. More taluks would be declared drought-hit in phases, based on reports, he said.

FH Jakkappanavar, MLC, urged officials to ensure that people in rural areas get government services without delay. He also sought more encouragement for dairy farming and said the state government was taking steps to seed the clouds.

Deputy Commissioner Snehal R. delivered opening remarks and Additional Deputy Commissioner Geetha CD welcomed the gathering.

Dignitaries paid floral tributes to former president Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan as part of Teachers’ Day celebrations. Sewing machines were distributed to beneficiaries, tricycles to persons with disabilities and kits to registered construction workers. Public complaints were also heard in the program.

District Guarantee Schemes Implementation Authority Chairman SR Patil, District In-charge Secretary Kumar THM, Zilla Panchayat CEO Bhuvanesh Patil, Superintendent of Police Gunjan Arya, Deputy Commissioner Prabhavati Fakirpur and officials from various departments, elected representatives and public representatives were present.
