London Squash Classic: Anahat Singh lost to Malaysia’s Sivasangari in the quarterfinals

India’s Anahat Singh’s campaign at the London Squash Classic ended in the quarterfinals after she lost to Malaysian world number one Sivasangari Subramaniam in London on Friday.The reigning junior world champion lost 4-11, 4-11 in the women’s quarter-finals at the PSA Gold tournament.Third seed Sivasangari controlled the match from the start and won 2-0 (11-4, 11-4) in just 17 minutes. She will now face second seed and reigning world champion Amina Orfi of Egypt in the semi-finals.Anahat, who is ranked world No. 20, reached the quarter-finals after defeating Belgium’s World No. 11 Nele Gilis in a three-game thriller in the previous round.The 18-year-old will next play at the Qatar Classic, which begins on September 12, in preparation for the Asian Games in Japan, which begin on September 19.The defeat also comes a few weeks before the Asian Games, where Sivasangari is expected to be Anahata’s biggest rival. The Malaysian is currently the highest ranked Asian player.The Asian Games gold medalist will qualify for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, where squash will make its Olympic debut.
