
The Police of Soadvanahalli arrested a man involved in a large rocket of hair theft and gained 300 kg of stolen human hair worth approximately 18 lakhs. The operation was exhibited after the complaint of VenkataramanAppa, the owner of the wig unit in the Lakshmipura Cross, was filed.
The warehouse owner informed the police that about 400 kg of hair worth £ 25 lakh was stolen from the unit, of which 100 kg intended for international exports. The incident occurred on March 1 and the case was registered at the Soadvanahali police station.
The accused, identified as Yellappa from Gadag, reportedly broke the warehouse lock and stole the hair that was originally collected from women for wig production. Hair that falls during hair combing is collected except for salons. The investigation revealed that stolen hair was intended for exports to other countries and foreign countries.
The police said the CCTV shots from the surrounding roads helped watch the accused, who was eventually arrested near Lakshmipura Cross. After theft, he reportedly fled to Andhra Pradesh. Based on the information provided, the police created a special team and managed to restore stolen goods.
While Yellappa is now in police custody, four other accomplices remain free. The police continue searching and expanding the investigation on the basis of evidence obtained from the tracking shots.
