Jal Jeevan roosters reach 38 villages affected by kidney disease in NTR district of Andhra after Pawan Kalyan’s push

Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan’s special attention to the plight of people in A. Kondur mandal of NTR district who have been severely affected by chronic kidney disease (CKD) has helped find a solution to the decades-old health problem, according to an official release.

After assuming power in June 2024, Mr. Pawan Kalyan gave top priority to this issue and got ₹ 49.94 crore sanctioned under Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) and Amarajeevi Jaladhara schemes to ensure provision of safe drinking water to residents of 21 gram panchayats and 38 habitations with kidney diseases.

It was noted that 130 km of pipelines were laid and other infrastructure was created to supply 55 liters of safe drinking water per person per day to nearly 75,000 people through individual water connections.

The people of these villages brought this matter to the attention of Mr. Pawan Kalyan before the 2024 elections and he tied up with the rural supply department and completed the project in two years.

The press release said that the previous government had failed to even initiate the tender process or start any works. Due to this negligence, the deadline for mobilizing funds under JJM expired by March 2024, casting a shadow over the project.

The state government immediately released its matching contribution soon after the central government extended the JJM by four years, paving the way for speedy implementation of the project.

Now water from the Krishna River is sourced from NTPC’s Ibrahimpatnam Canal, treated on site and supplied through 130 km of pipelines and 12 overhead reservoirs.
