AAIB issues preliminary report on Phuket-Delhi Air India flight case, says pilot took drugs; requests DGCA to take action | Today’s news

Almost a month after the pilot of the turbulence-hit Air India flight from Phuket to Delhi failed a drug test, the investigating agency, the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB), on Friday released a preliminary report that confirmed drug use by the pilot-in-command and described it as “serious concerns”.

The agency said it has asked the regulator, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), to take appropriate action, news agency PTI reported. After releasing a preliminary report into the August 4 incident in which an Air India flight from Phuket to Delhi, operated by an A320 aircraft, suddenly dropped 300 feet, injuring several passengers, the AAIB said a detailed investigation is currently underway.
