FLY91 orders 40 ATR aircraft

Regional airline FLY91 today signed a firm order for 40 70-seat ATR 72-600 aircraft, the largest global ATR order by any regional airline.

The deal is valued at around $1 billion, although airline customers are negotiating discounts from the listed price.

The airline will lease another six to eight planes before the new planes start arriving. No definitive timeline has been shared regarding the launch of the 40 aircraft.

For the Franco-Italian aircraft maker, the big Indian order comes nine years after IndiGo ordered 50 ATRs in 2017.

The airline, which started operations in early 2024, operates 280 flights a week to 12 destinations. It connects Pune, Sindhudurg, Solapur and Jalgaon in Maharashtra; Agatti in the Lakshadweep Islands; Hubballi in Karnataka; Tirupati, Vijayawada and Rajahmundry in Andhra Pradesh; along with Bengaluru, Goa, Kochi and Hyderabad.
