Five military employees were on Wednesday awarded the MacGregor Medal Medal Medal The Chief of Defense General Anil Chauhan for excellent contributions in military survey, survey and adventure for 2023 and 2024.
The award for 2023 included the commander of the wing of D. Panda from the Air Force and an electric artist (radio) Rahul Kumar Pandey of the Navy. For 2024, the main medal was awarded the main electric aircraft (radio) RAM Ratan Jat from the Navy and Sergeant Jhumar Ram Poonia from the Air Force. Colonel Ranvir Singh Jamwal, director of the National Institute for Mountaineering and Adventures in Aruunachal Pradesh, was also awarded. However, the officer was not physically present to win the prize because he is on the climbing expedition Mt. Kangchenjunga.
The medals were introduced by four staff on the ceremony held at the Indian Institution United Service Institution (USI).
MacGregor Memorial Medal, introduced on July 3, 1888, commemorates General General Sir Charles Metcalfe MacGregor, founder of Usi (founded in 1870). The scope of the medal was originally intended to recognize the actions of military survey and exploratory routes, the scope of the medal was extended in 1986, independence to include military expeditions and adventure activities, the Ministry of Defense said in a statement.
“While military survey and survey remains the most important criteria, the medal is open to all ranks (serving and retirement) of the armed forces, territorial armies, reserve forces, rifles of Rashtriya and rifles Assam.”
To date, 127 medals have been awarded, of which 103 before independence. Among the remarkable recipients include Fe Youngusband Captain (1890), Major Major ORDE Charles Wingate (1943), Major ZC Bakshi (1949), col. Narinder Kumar for Siachen glaciers (1978–81) and CDR Dilip Donde and Lt. CDR. Abhilash Tomy for their solo global circuits.
The event also presented the Book of Bravest of Brave, the Chronicle of Life and the Hero Road Naib Subedar Chunni Lal, who wrote Gen. Satish dua (Retd.), Former head of integrated defense.
