The Indian Air Force has achieved a major breakthrough in indigenous precision strike capability with the successful drop test of the indigenously designed and developed Long Range Glide Bomb (LRGB), Khagantak-243.

This achievement represents a significant milestone for both the IAF and the Indian defense industry.

The trial marks another important step towards strengthening India’s indigenous precision strike capabilities and enhancing Aatmanirbhar Bharat’s vision in the defense sector.

The successful test of the Khagantak-243 by the Indian industry is expected to significantly boost the development of long-range precision air-to-ground weapons. Long-range glide bombs are designed to allow fighter jets to engage targets at long ranges, allowing platforms to engage enemy targets while remaining out of reach of certain air defense systems.

The development of the Khagantak-243 comes amid a sustained push by the government and the armed forces to reduce dependence on imported weapons systems and to promote domestic design, development and production of advanced defense technologies.
