Spokesperson TN Prabhakar says the decision to split the AIADMK will show its neutrality

Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Speaker JCD Prabhakar on Sunday (May 24, 2026) said that everyone will know whether he was impartial or not on the AIADMK legislature split issue when he takes a decision and announces it on the floor of the House.

In an interview with journalists after paying tribute to the former speaker of Si.Pa. Adithanar in Chennai on the death anniversary of the late leader, Mr. Prabhakar, while replying to a question regarding the allegations of bias leveled by some leaders by the Speaker in deciding the petitions presented to him by two groups of AIADMK legislators, said, “I am functioning in a neutral manner. The two AIADMK groups after duly submitting to me the respective legislators who are conducting the petition examination. when I announce this in the assembly, each he will know how justly I have acted.”

School Education Minister Rajmohan, who accompanied the speaker, while replying to a question regarding DMK president MK Stalin’s remark that the TVK-led government would not last for five years, said: “He (Mr Stalin) earlier said that we (TVK) would not come to power. But we did. Now he is predicting that our government will not survive. However, with the overwhelming support of the people, it will continue for another 50 years.”

Asked about the DMK’s criticism of the Congress party for allying itself with the TVK, the minister said, “It only reflects the feudal mindset of the DMK, which puts itself in a superior position and views the alliance parties as subordinate. In a democracy, only the leaders and cadre of the party with whom they should form an alliance in this way have the right to decide their course of action.”

He further said that within days of the TVK-led government assuming office, swift law and order measures were taken. Many historians were identified and arrested. Even in the Coimbatore incident, the accused were arrested and swift action was taken.
