French police have uncovered a chilling plot to kidnap Kylian Mbappé and 25 other wealthy figures.

Mbappe among 26 alleged targets

According to French newspaper Le Parisien, investigators discovered the addresses of 26 wealthy individuals on two cellphones seized from the 18-year-old suspect, identified as Clément L.Mbappe was reportedly among the names on the list, along with the rapper and several wealthy businessmen. These other alleged targets included a Chinese businessman, jewelers and a Turkish meat trader, with investigators reportedly finding information that could be used to identify or locate them.The discovery came as authorities investigated the activities of a teenager who allegedly continued to run a criminal organization despite being held in prison.The case therefore involves an alleged conspiracy rather than an actual kidnapping. Investigators are now trying to determine how far the organization has progressed, whether they actually approached or monitored any of the potential targets, and what each person under investigation allegedly did.However, Mbappe’s inclusion is particularly notable given his status as one of the most respected footballers in the world and his position as Real Madrid and France captain.

The suspect allegedly escaped the gang from his prison cell

Clément L was already in pre-trial detention on charges of pimping and organized robbery when investigators discovered he allegedly continued to issue instructions from prison.According to Le Parisien, prison guards confiscated two mobile phones from him. Investigators then examined their contents and reportedly found information related to 26 alleged targets.The teenager allegedly operated on Snapchat under the alias “Lester Z” and used the phones to communicate and give instructions to people outside the prison.A source close to the case told Le Parisien that the contents of the phones were particularly revealing.“Two phones were seized by prison guards and their contents were very revealing,” the source said.The same source added: “He also wanted to go after rapper and footballer Kylian Mbappe.”The investigation reportedly began after authorities looked into a separate robbery at a luxury watch store in Neuilly-sur-Seine last April.Clément L has already been identified as one of the two men allegedly involved in the attack on the watchmaker, which led to his arrest for armed robbery.The discovery of the phones subsequently opened up a much wider line of investigation into the alleged criminal organization and its potential plans.

What happened when the teenager was interrogated?

During questioning, Clément L allegedly rejected the suggestion that he was the mastermind of the alleged operation.He also requested to be released from solitary confinement, but that request was denied and he was ordered to remain there while the investigation continued.The teenager allegedly dropped out of school during the first year of his vocational qualification as a chef. He told investigators he wanted to re-educate and eventually become a chef.Despite these claims about his future plans, he remains in pre-trial detention as authorities investigate far more serious allegations involving a criminal organization.His alleged accomplice has since been released under judicial supervision. The person challenged the measure on Wednesday before the Chamber of Inquiry in Versailles.The investigation must now determine exactly how the alleged kidnapping operation was organized, how long the preparation took, and whether the information found in the seized phones translated into specific plans against any of the 26 individuals named.
