Three consignments of marijuana seized in Hyderabad, 16 kg of the narcotic substance
The Telangana Excise Special Task Force (STF) seized over 16 kg of marijuana in three separate operations in Hyderabad and Medchal and arrested four persons while cases were registered against two others.
In the first operation, STF ‘A’ team seized 7.448 kg of marijuana during inspections near Chintalakunta check post in Hayathnagar. Rajesh Kalamam, who was allegedly transporting contraband from Orissa, was arrested. A criminal complaint was also registered against Vishal Kurian in connection with the seizure. Marijuana worth about ₹4,000 was seized and the accused were handed over to Hayathnagar Excise Station.
In another operation, STF ‘B’ team acted on information about sale of marijuana in Vasavi Ananda Nilayam area of LB Nagar. The team seized 8.928 kg of marijuana and arrested Ganga Madhukami and Munni Kadiyam.
According to officials, the two told the investigators that they had brought the marijuana from Odisha to hand over to one Vijay Kuriv alias Roshan. A case was registered against Kurivi, who was not among those arrested. The seized contraband with an estimated value of ₹ 4.50 lakh and the arrested persons were handed over to the sleuths of Saroornagar Excise Station.
In the third operation, Medchal Enforcement nabbed Deepak Swan, a native of Odisha, in the jurisdiction of Quthbullapur Excise Station. Along with a motorcycle and a mobile phone, they secured 550 grams of marijuana. Swan and the seized property were handed over to the staff of the Quthbullapur Excise Station.
