The Telangana government is making elaborate arrangements for the success of Defense Expo – 2026, which will be held as part of the second annual Invest Telangana Global Investor Summit at Bharat Future City from December 7-9.

The government is planning an airshow, industrial exhibition and special events related to defense systems besides seminars on aviation, defense and space technology as part of the exhibition. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has invited Defense Minister Rajnath Singh to the prestigious event organized by the state government to inaugurate the Defense Expo. The defense minister could lead the defense firms, startups and young scientists who are expected to attend the event.

The chief minister, who is in New Delhi on Wednesday (September 2, 2026), called on the defense minister and explained that the state government is ready to organize the event at the level of international standards. Apart from granting permission for the participation of aerobatic teams comprising Suryakiran, Sarang and other defense aircraft in the airshow, he sought the cooperation of the Ministry of Defense for the successful conduct of the exhibition. Steps will be taken to display the latest technology deployed by the Army, Navy and Air Force.

He wanted defense firms like HAL, BEL, BDL and others to participate in the fair and showcase their latest technologies. Within the framework of the fair, the Ministry of Defense should expand cooperation in holding meetings with representatives of major global defense companies as well as bilateral meetings with defense officials.

Lands for DRDL and airport

The Chief Minister informed the Defense Minister that the state government has started the process of acquiring 750 acres of land required for the proposed airport in Adilabad. Moves were initiated to acquire an additional 750 acres for the airport as the Department of Defense sought a total of 1,500 acres for the project. The Telangana Industrial Infrastructure Corporation has agreed to allot 416.18 acres of land for the project proposed by the Defense Research and Development Laboratories (DRDL). The state government decided to lease the land at a nominal rent of ₹1 per annum for 30 years and the Ministry of Defense could extend the lease for two more periods based on need.
