Balyaspandanam to be introduced for Anganwadi children in Keralam

The Government of Kerala is implementing a program to ensure comprehensive health of children attending Anganwadis in the state.

‘Balyaspandanam’ will be jointly implemented by the Women and Child Development Department and the Health and Family Department as part of the 100-day program of the government.

The objective of the program is to provide health check-up to children attending 33,120 Anganwadis in the state every three months. Children’s physical growth, nutritional status, vision and hearing will be tested to identify any problems early and provide professional treatment and follow-up.

The identification of problems in the growth and development of children will be carried out by trained health workers of the Department of Health.

Minister for Women and Child Development Bindhu Krishna will inaugurate the state-level Balyaspandanam at Kodunganoor Family Health Centre, Vattiyurkavu on Wednesday. Health Minister K. Muraleedharan will preside.

Thiruvananthapuram Mayor VV Rajesh will launch the growth monitoring mechanism on the occasion.
