11 arrested for murder of man in Guntur, says SP

Police have arrested 11 people in connection with the murder of Pendrala Venkanna under Nagarampalem police station in Guntur, Superintendent of Police Vakul Jindal said on Monday.

According to the preliminary investigation, the accused allegedly planned the murder due to old enmity and desire for revenge. After learning that Venkanna had reached Guntur with his family on August 29, the accused allegedly tracked his movements.

On the morning of August 30, the accused allegedly intercepted Venkanna in the front line of the KVP colony and assaulted him. The main accused allegedly attacked him with a knife, while the others attacked him with sticks and hands, the SP said.

The arrested persons were identified as Pendrala Immanuel Raju, P. Amulya Raju, P. Devaraju, P. Guravayya, P. Shyam, P. Bujji, P. Jamalamma, P. Raj Kumar, Battula Moses Raju, Devarakonda Shalem Raju and Irugu Babu.

The accused were arrested on August 31. Police recovered two vehicles allegedly used in the crime and recovered a sharp knife allegedly used in the murder.

The investigation continues to identify the possible involvement of other individuals and gather additional evidence.
