Racing ace Jagat Nanjappa no more

Maletira Jagat Nanjappa, a motor sports personality who made a name for herself on the Indian racing circuit, died in Mysuru on Sunday. He was 68.

A native of Nalvathoklu in Virajpet taluk of Kodagu, Nanjappa is survived by his wife Anita Nanjappa. His remains were taken to his birthplace and laid to rest at his residence where relatives, friends, supporters and motor sports enthusiasts gathered to pay their last respects.

Nanjappa and Anita were prominent figures on the Indian racing circuit in the 1980s and 1990s. The couple participated in many motorcycle and car rallies around the country and won several awards.

Nanjappa was considered one of Kodagu’s pioneering talents in motor sports. His contribution to Indian motor sports and his achievements on the racing circuits continue to be remembered by the motoring fraternity and people of Kodagu.
