Keralam CM vehicle laying: court orders production of Chenthi Anil
The Magistrate First Class Court in Thiruvananthapuram on Monday issued a direction to produce former Thiruvananthapuram District Congress Committee member Chenthi Anil on Tuesday in connection with a case related to allegedly obstructing Chief Minister VD Satheesan’s vehicle.
The order to bring the accused to court was issued at 11 o’clock. The directive follows a formal request by the police, which asks for his detention for further questioning. A remand request will also be heard on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the investigation team added conspiracy charges citing Section 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and alleged that the incident was part of a planned move. The charges were laid after police allegedly examined Mr Anil’s mobile phone, among other evidence. The police suspect that there was a deliberate conspiracy behind the attempt to disrupt the Chief Minister’s convoy.
In its remand application, the prosecution argued that the accused had political influence and could potentially destroy or tamper with evidence if granted bail. Police also expressed concern that he might abscond if released on bail.
