Mysuru BJP releases ‘Ballari Chalo’ posters, supports 10-day padayatra

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will launch a 10-day ‘Ballari Chalo’ padayatra from Raichur to Ballari on Tuesday, highlighting the alleged failures of the Congress government and demanding accountability for the alleged “misappropriation of funds by the state-owned Karnataka Maharshi Valmiki Scheduled Tribes Development Corporation Limited”.

The issue assumes significance as former minister B. Nagendra resigned from the DK Shivakumar cabinet while the BJP campaigned for his resignation.

Unveiling the padayatra posters at the BJP office here on Monday, Raghu Kautilya, MLC, said that BJP leaders and workers from across the state would participate in the march led by BJP state president BY Vijayendra, Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Assembly R. Ashoka and Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council Narayana Chalavad

He said the padayatra would also highlight the alleged scam in the recruitment of veterinary officers by the Karnataka Public Service Commission and the state government’s reported move to allow parts of parks and gardens to be used for purposes other than park maintenance and development.

Mr. Kautilya argued that the government’s proposal to alienate 5% of the park land for other purposes (through an amendment to the Karnataka State Parks (Protection) (Amendment) Bill) would lead to encroachment on green spaces. “This should be opposed not only by the BJP but by people across the state,” he said.
