Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay on Monday (31 Aug 2029) announced another hike in the purchase price of milk procured by primary milk producers’ cooperatives in the state by ₹ 3, taking the price to ₹ 44 per litre.
In a suo motu statement in the assembly, he said on August 19 that the government had increased the purchase price by ₹3 per liter while the cooperative societies had increased it by ₹1, taking the price from ₹38 to ₹41.
As the input cost and price of fodder increased, the government decided to further increase the procurement price by ₹3 per litre. “The government will compensate Aavin for the additional amount. It will cost ₹60 crore per month and ₹720 crore annually,” he said.
