Tamil Nadu Congress president Tharahai Cuthbert allotted a front row seat in the assembly

Colachel Congress MLA Tharahai Cuthbert, who was elected as the leader of the party in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly, got a front row seat along with leaders of other opposition parties.

When she raised a question from the front row on Monday (August 31, 2026), DMK MLA and party assembly whip EV Velu asked Speaker JCD Prabhakar to consider their request for allotment of front row seats to senior members including MH Jawahirullah and Thameemun Ansari.

The chairman said that although he had made his decision based on the symbols on which the members contested the election, he would consider Mr. Vela’s request and announce his decision in due course.
