The Communist Party of the India-Marxist (CPI-M) asked the Chief Minister of Tripura Manik Saha to move the Idol Lord Ram installed in the public space, where there was once a statue of the Communist leader.
Jitendra Chaudhura, State Secretary of CPI (M) and opposition leader in the 60-member assembly, said that unknown people were installed by Lord Ram’s idol on the Tri-Junction in the Kailahahahahahahahahahara city of Unakots at night when the previous representative was before April 11. installed.
The pedestal remained unoccupied since the statue of the Communist leader was demolished after Bharatiya Janata (BJP) came in 2018.
“You must be aware that the statue of Baidyanath Majumder, one of the most important political leaders of Tripura, was installed in 2012 on folk demand. Later after the elections to the 2018 assembly, D. Saha was installed in 2012.
“Former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb condemned vandalism and assured us that the statue would be re -installed, but did not respect his commitment,” he wrote.
Mr. Chaudhura said that the installation of Idol Lord Rama on the pedestal, when a statue of the Communist leader was occupied, was against Tripur’s culture and tradition.
“I ask for the relocation of Idol Lord Rama to a suitable place or temple and reinstalled the statue of the leader of the people, which was Baidyanath Majumder,” he wrote, stressed that the Communist leader devoted his life to the cause of people.
The President of the district of Unakoti, Bimal Kar Bjp, denied the involvement of any party or leader in the installation of the statue of Lord Rama.
