DMK president MK Stalin on Saturday said the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) government headed by Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay was “sitting on the fence” and “will definitely fall one day”.
Addressing a meeting of the party’s youth wing, he said that TVK can muster the strength to form the government only with the support of CPI(M), CPI, VCK, IUML and Congress. He also alleged that she tried unsuccessfully to split the AIADMK to secure support. He claimed that what happened in Tamil Nadu “was not a political tsunami but a cinematic tsunami”.
“The glitter of cinema was used to win votes. But they failed to woo everyone,” he said, likening the public support for Vijay to a child’s fascination with a new doll.
“When children see a new doll, they will want to have it. But within two days, they will get bored and throw it away. Similarly, people voted for their favorite actor who started the party. They will soon lose interest in the doll. Like a child longing for its mother, they will look for DMK,” he said.
Mr. Stalin also claimed that the last five years of the DMK rule were the best in the last 50 years. “I do not hesitate to say this. By saying this, I am not claiming to be better than our predecessors. I have learned from them and ensured better governance. We have done what we have been asked to do. People will also realize it,” added the former chief minister.
