Melukara and Kottathoor Kaithakkodi won the Aranmula Uthrittathi boat race

The waters of the Pampa river turned into a glittering stage of tradition, devotion and raw rhythmic energy on Sunday as the Aranmula Uthrittathi boat race reached its climax. Beyond a mere race of speed, the sacred water regatta reaffirmed its status as a grand celebration of heritage, where the synchronized immersion of hundreds of wooden oars echoed the collective pulse of the crowd lined along the river banks.

In the highly anticipated A-Batch final, Melukara Palliyodam emerged victorious after a very close match. Koipram Palliyodam finished second to secure second place. Edasserimala East Palliyodam crossed the finish line to take third place while Mallappuzhasheri Palliyodam finished fourth.

Kottathoor-Kaithakkodi Palliyodam, continuing their undisputed dominance in B-Batch without any issues, achieved a rare feat. After their victories in 2024 and 2025, they finished first again in 2026, securing a hat-trick with their third win in a row. Vanmazhi Palliyodam finished behind them in second place. Thottappuzhassery Palliyodam secured the third position while Mangalam Palliyodam took the fourth position.

The organizers announced the final results after a precise laser check after a photo finish that was separated by mere seconds.

The water festival was inaugurated by Vice President CP Radhakrishnan while Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar was the chief guest. Palliyoda Seva Sangham President KV Sambasivan presided over the function which was attended by Ministers Ramesh Chennithala, Mons Joseph, Roji M. John and MLA Abin Varkey. After the trophies were distributed, residents celebrated along the banks with traditional chants and Vanchippattu.
